A Calling Card is:

"An engraved or handwritten card bearing one's full name & used for the call (a type of visitation, sending messages, announcement cards, and more. "

A kin to the business cards of today.

The Cards are small pieces of amazing wonderment.  Giving witness to not just an age of interesting things, but as a piece of a world that everyone misunderstands.

Often thought of as a requirement for ones societies roles, the cards were used as apart of an intriguing etiquette game.  When out in society, some people would hide ones personal finances, true occupations and even ones real personality behind the etiquette rules.  Living the society role they set for themselves to the hilt and beyond.

During the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) these beautiful cards became more visible in society.  The cards were originally from France, later they caught on throughout European and American society.
