Genealogically speaking documentation is everything.

And the documentation is also ephemerally speaking.

Beginner's Information

Everyone is at this point in time a beginner on this journey.  Even someone into the genealogical field for along time.  Why?  Because ephemera may be easily overlooked or worse tragically lost.

Genealogical Tips
  • Do not disregard any paperwork found among family papers.
  • Set aside all documentation not immediately used in a safe place.  For you never know when they will provide information on a story or another documents data.
  • Do keep in mind that a family genealogy is not ever completed until a really thorough search in each families history comes to a deadend.  And even then it isn't completed.
Ephemeral Tips
  • Do learn more about & use acid-free paper storage options if you are not already using them.
  • Ephemera can include your Grandparents photos, its not just documents.
Note:
More tips will be added in the future as this is just to get everyone started.
